Jan 6 update

Posted by on January 6, 2018

A driver update in from Saturday morning: Drove from Gold Bridge to Pemberton this morning. Slushy and icy conditions at the summit, rest of the road a light ice crust. Make it with 4×4 truck and studded winter tires. Chains recommended.

The Hurley is getting lots of different types of traffic and snowmobiling on a plowed FSR road is illegal and dangerous.  The road is plowed narrow so please drive slow and stay on your side of the road. If you have a radio use Resource Road Channel 19. If you choose to drive the Hurley at this time of the year, be prepared to experience all kinds of weather and winter driving conditions.  Winter driving skills, 4 x4, chains and good snow tires are essential for travel.  A survival/safety kit are good things to carry in your truck.  Conditions can change fast at anytime up there with the fluctuating temperatures & weather.

Drove over last night at 8. Pemberton to the summit was great. Summit to Gold Bridge was a little bit icy but I had no trouble with winter tires and 4×4. Little dusting of snow at the top made things nice and grippy. Still made it home by 10.
