Fall Update #1

Posted by on October 15, 2014

New signage has been installed on the Hurley relating to industrial traffic & wildlife/hunting.   Photos of the new signs are below.

Reports from Hurley drivers are positive after the new work and many say it’s the best they have seen the road in years.   Snow has started falling at the higher elevations and snow can fall on the Hurley Road at anytime now.   Drivers should be prepared for all driving conditions.  Winter driving skills, 4 x4 and good tires are essential for travel at this time of the year.  Chains and a survival/safety kit are good things to carry in your truck.   Conditions can change at anytime up there & current conditions may not be reported on this site.    If you have conditions to report please email info@bridgerivervalley.ca

Came down the Hurley today and thought I should pass along an update. FYI, lots of traffic coming up as we headed back to the coast.

East Hurley was its usual self, with lots of pot holes and bumps but overall drivable. The main Hurley from the steel bridge to the summit is pretty good, again with just some pot holes and loose rocks to watch out for, but much better than the east Hurley.

We hit snow at around the 29 km mark (a couple of inches) and it didn’t clear up until we started coming down on the other side at roughly the top of all the road work from this fall. From there down the road is in very good shape. The best part is still along the river on the Pemberton side.

Overall I would say the road is in very good condition. Best its been in the last 10 or so years.
