We have the first Hurley opening update from BJ Moore, Engineering Officer with FLNRO. BJ contacted the Avalanche Tech a week and a half ago. They said that at the lower and mid-levels of Green and Sloan mountains had come down and were ok. The higher level zones might still avalanche and could reach the road. BJ will be contacting them again to find out where the higher avalanche zones are at now. A report by Cathie Milne from Backcountry Snowcats said that at the summit of the pass there was 6’ of hard packed snow. Squamish Mills is going to look to see how far up they can go from the Pemberton side and start grading if possible while the road is still closed. The contract for Tom Illidge and Squamish Mills are in place and ready to go once the Avalanche risk is abated. More updates will be posted as soon as we receive them.
