July Grading Update

Posted on July 20, 2012July 20, 2012

The Hurley has been pretty rough lately with no grading since the snow was removed.    Last week MOF graded their section on the Gold Bridge side and this week Interior Roads have started work on their section of road.  Only a short section has been graded and the grader was parked and didn’t move yesterday.   The Pemberton side remains rough with no grader in sight.  The East Hurley is still closed due to the wash out.   Link to new responsibility for the Hurley Road sections.

If you have something to say about roads in the Bridge River Valley, including the Hurley go to the feedback form on the Interior Roads website.   http://www.interiorroads.com/pcr.php   Your feedback goes to many officials. This is a very effective tool.

The Goat Mt produce stand will be open in late August this year.  Unfortunately two of the kids who run the stand have other jobs now.  On behalf of the Hurley travellers I’d like to thank the kids  for all the fresh produce they have grown over the years and we wish them all the best in their new jobs!  We are looking forward to August when the stand opens!

It was a beautiful drive over the Hurley yesterday as you can see from these images…..

Great news about the East Hurley. Now we need to get it classified the same as the rest of the Hurley so it gets the love it deserves.

Come on people, sign the petition!

One of Mr. Lali’s staff has gotten back to me and are looking into the East Hurley.

I’ll let you know what they say once they find out what’s up.

I sent an email off to Mr. Lallis office regarding the East Hurley. We’ll see if he gets back to me.

Wow, that pretty much sums it up (Hurley/15 users, route 40/1 user)

I tried contacting Brad Bushel (sp?) from the gov of BC as per direction from interior roads and left a message on the East Hurley. Well see if he gets back to me.

Who is our representative in the provincial legislature? Maybe they need to be contacted to see something done with the East Hurley closure along with the rest of the Hurley.

    What do you think?

Thanks you for the road updates and the links. Also, thanks for the info on the produce stand – we like to stop by on our way up and were sad about its recent absence.

    Great update Michelle.
Last Thursday, July 12 the SLRD board did a tour of the entire area from Lillooet to Pemberton. In the 1.5 hours we were on Road 40 (Lillooet to Gold Bridge) we saw one other vehicle, on the 1.5 hours we were on the Hurley we saw 15.
PLEASE users of the Hurley River Rd. give feedback!!!

The bigest problem is when they plow the snow off in the spring. The operators plow right down to gravel and plow off all he gravel leaving exposed boulders. What thet need to do is plow it down to the ice layer and then let it melt. They are pretty much clueless so I doubt if anything will ever change
