Lots of traffic.

Thanks to Debbie Demare for sending in these awesome photos of the Hurley taken Saturday Dec 23. It’s so nice to be able to drive the Hurley at this time of the year. Logging activity has finished and there is still a grader and a cat up there. Temp at the summit was -20 at midday and the sun is shining brightly.

The East Hurley has a washout about 300m east of the junction with the Hurley Main. The culvert is sitting in the channel cut across the road which is 150cm deep and about 300cm wide and impassible by truck or sled. Beavers have since dammed the higher side so expect more washouts in the spring. Both sides of the pond are covered in ice to thin to cross by sled. Thanks to Conny for the update.

The Hurley is getting lots of different types of traffic. The road is plowed narrow so please drive slow and stay on your side of the road. If you have a radio use Resource Road Channel 19. If you choose to drive the Hurley at this time of the year, be prepared to experience all kinds of weather and winter driving conditions. Winter driving skills, 4 x4, chains and good snow tires are essential for travel. A survival/safety kit are good things to carry in your truck. Conditions can change fast at anytime up there with the fluctuating temperatures & weather.

Support this website and order your Hurley t-shirts, bumper stickers, can coolers & trucker hats in 3 colours – green/white, black/gold, pink/grey Click here to purchase Hurley merchandise.
Thank you for your road updates and support!

<img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="size-full wp-image-2310" src="https://isurvivedthehurley.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/12/Hurley23Dec.jpg" alt="Hurley Dec 23.
