{"id":893,"date":"2012-09-28T13:36:02","date_gmt":"2012-09-28T20:36:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/isurvivedthehurley.com\/?p=893"},"modified":"2012-10-02T17:55:43","modified_gmt":"2012-10-03T00:55:43","slug":"fall-2012-update","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/isurvivedthehurley.com\/?p=893","title":{"rendered":"Fall 2012 Update"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Update from <a href=\"http:\/\/debbiedemare.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Debbie Demare<\/a>, \u00a0Area A Director <a href=\"http:\/\/www.slrd.bc.ca\/\" target=\"_blank\">SLRD<\/a><\/p>\n<p>MOF Squamish tells me that a &#8220;proper&#8221; grading will begin on the Pemberton end &#8220;switchbacks&#8221; on the Hurley very soon and hopefully before Thanksgiving.<\/p>\n<p>The official\u00a0I spoke to\u00a0had some excellent suggestions for improving the road condition of that section of road involving the use of &#8220;millings&#8221; from the asphalt that is ground down on re-paving projects.<\/p>\n<p>At the ministerial meetings next week at UBCM I will put forward two &#8220;incremental&#8221; requests related to the Hurley:<br \/>\n1. That the entire road be put under one jurisdiction and one Ministry. Preferably Ministry of Forests as this is more the nature of this road than a public highway.\u00a0 Makes sense to me, instead of dealing with 3 different offices, 3 different people and 3 different budgets.\u00a0 Put the entire budget in one office and ministry\u00a0so it can be used in the most effective way possible.\u00a0 The only people suffering from the current arrangement are us, the taxpayers!<br \/>\n2.
