Avalanche & Snow Update

Posted by on May 18, 2021

Thanks to Sal Demare for passing on this latest update from FLNRO:

“Good morning. I have just received an update from the avalanche tech about the conditions along the Hurley.

It appears that the road is clearing itself rapidly and there is around 7km of FSR to plough and around 1.6m of snow at the summit. However, there is some unsettled weather that may cause some concern until at least this Saturday. I have sent an update to the contractors and have asked them to be available next week to start the work on opening the Hurley.

I will pass along more updates if any new information comes to light.”

The Hurley is still closed to vehicles

The road is still closed for the season and the opening will be posted here when we have more information.

I’m new to this group but I tried to get through from the Goldbrige side today ( May 24 ) and the road is impassable by vehicles due to snow about 30km from Goldbrige.
