Thanks to Chuck for the latest update:
Came down the Hurley today from Bralorne via the East Hurley between 10 and 11am.
The E Hurley is as rough as usual but no snow or other issues other than the same old pot holes. The middle section from the steel bridge to the summit was better than the E Hurley, but rougher than usual. You could see that the grader had moved some scraps around, but there are more potholes than material to fill them, so it can only do so much. Very few sections without pot holes overall.
Didn’t hit any snow until roughly 1 km from the summit, with its deepest being around 4” of snow with tire tracks. The big long straight hill going down to Pemberton was probably the smoothest of the entire Hurley, then it became rougher again on the switch backs down to the Pemberton valley.
THE roughest section of the entire drive is the Lillooet FSR. It was probably as rough as the East Hurley and thats pretty rough.
If you choose to drive the Hurley at this time of the year be prepared to experience all kinds of weather and winter driving conditions. Winter driving skills, 4×4, chains and good snow tires are essential for travel. A survival/safety kit are good things to carry in your truck. Conditions can change fast at anytime up there with the fluctuating temperatures & weather. Current conditions may not be reported on this site. Have a safe drive.
