Thanks to Sal Demare for 2 days of Hurley updates. What a difference a day makes! Drove over the Hurley Wednesday morning to go to Pemberton for two days of SLRD Board meetings. There was in areas of up to 2″ to 3″ of snow. The vehicle tracks were iced up so depending on the area would drive on fresh snow. At the summit this morning it was -3 degrees and lightly snowing. It has rained all day here in Pemberton and at 7 degrees so don’t know what is happening up the Hurley. Check the pictures as I took 4 different areas to show the snow conditions. On Thursday I returned from Pemberton in the early afternoon on October 29th and the Hurley FSR was basically clear of snow other than a few patches here and there but more so at the Green Mountain Area. It was 0 degrees at the summit and basically the rest of the trip until going down to Gold Bridge.
If you choose to drive the Hurley at this time of the year be prepared to experience all kinds of weather and winter driving conditions. Winter driving skills, 4×4, chains and good snow tires are essential for travel. A survival/safety kit are good things to carry in your truck. Conditions can change fast at anytime up there with the fluctuating temperatures & weather. Current conditions may not be reported on this site. Have a safe drive.
